I was planning on making the drive to and from Old Saybrook on Wednesday for the final club meeting this season.

But I will be traveling next week to Albuquerque, NM to visit my mom who turns 90 in January.

So unfortunately, and with great regret, I will miss the meeting on the 12th.

I hope it's a great one!

Ross

Good for you Ross! Give her a hug and HB wish from the Z family. But I have to question your planned route. Leaving mid October for a January arrival?! Load Waze on your phone and seek a shorter/quicker routing. “Enjoy The Ride!”

I plan to be there. On the fence for my drive.
Decided I'd take the 350Z to Saybrook which has been sleeping since Middletown gathering. And it's emissions are due. So I did some shuffling today to get the emissions done and then take tomorrow. Sadly, the 350Z which started with a little difficulty before our Middletown gathering, did not want to start today. So I had to jump it and keep it running before leaving for emissions plus while there. Once home and in the Car Cave I shut it off. And of course it was not wanting to re-start. So alas it needs a new Heart pace maker. Jeff at Miller always treats me right on such things so I'd like to get a new heart from him. I Just need to figure if I want to jump it to get to our gathering tomorrow and if I'll be able to get a jump for my ride home.

Oh BTW, this Z STILL has it's ORIGINAL AS DELIVERED (in Oct 2002) battery! Says something for OEM batteries AND good trickle/maintainer chargers as this car has just crossed 29kmi. It as sat quite a lot over the last 20 years and 3 days. I found 3 of 6 cells a bit low. I topped them off with distilled water and have it on charger now. We'll see if that very old heart is still strong enough to start the car tomorrow. But I'd say that is doubtful. If not, I'll need to decide on taking the 350Z with jumpers, or GT-R (yes... again Karl... & John).

My point of all the TMI above is that I've had good luck on OEM Nissan Batteries... particularly if kept on a good maintainer. That is key since my Toys are sleeping a lot more than most. I got 14 yrs on the '90 Z32 battery, though I had no control of initial 3 yrs treatment before I took ownership. 13 yrs on the '09 GT-R's since new, and now 20 YEARS (new Record) on the 350Z's Battery. Similar long runs on some other OEM car batteries since everyone is on a maintainer, but the Nissans seem to win the trophies.

I will be there tonight. I hope I can be on time. The 10 minute drive is going to be tough.

I unfortunately will not be able to attend tonight's meeting due to a calendar slip up with a family obligation.

Old Saybrook is the closest meeting location for me, I was looking forward to seeing everyone before the long winter months arrive.

Enjoy the nice weather! I look forward to Frank's summary later tonight!

Regards,
Phil

This was a really nice meeting!! We mustered about 30 members in more than 25 cars, the weather was near-perfect and Grossman's Nissan treated us with the best possible hospitality. The piZZa was good and we can blame the absent soda on the full moon

As always, the best part of the night for me was getting to spend 5-10 minutes with each of our old members, and even some new ones!

New members Brandon and Jessica arrived in a near-perfect 1971 240Z (HLS30-28xxx) which we had not seen before. It sounded excellent thru the throaty exhaust and the whole car looked immaculate. They discussed volunteering as the Club MerchandiZe team for the next Zeason. ( Jess already custom-made a "Z-Hoodie" for Brandon, which he proudly wore to their first meeting tonight   ) Not sure if there's enough time to get new Merch rolling before Christmas or not, but much of the Club Merch we all bought years ago is beginning to look a little worn, so a big Christmas sales would certainly boost morale and help feed the Club Kitty. Good luck guyZ, we will help y'all in any way we can if you decide to take the job.

Several members spoke tonight about Z-related news, and Grossman's Cody gave us the up-to-the-minute news on the upcoming new "400Z".

Of course we lost our esteemed President John Kish tonight. This was his final meeting as PreZident and it is hard to see him retire into Emeritus status. He has done an excellent job, been an ever-constant presence (and an ever-present constant) at each of our meetings and events, and has breathed new air into our Club for the future. We have high confidence that his replacement will follow in John's bootprints, but it will be hard if not impossible to replace that happy countenance leading us each month. Thanks John; you were an excellent PreZ and left the Club far better than it was when you assumed command. We hope (and expect) to zee you at all future meetings, events, and fun-runs.

I like the meetings out in the "Far East"; we draw members who we don't always get to zee at some of the "Western" venues.

Vinny, Ross and Phil; you couldn't make it tonight, so I ate your piZZa. 8)
You're welcome.

Frank T
