I'm pleased to post this upcoming event to be held in Stratford CT on September 19th, 2021.

For those of you who can't make the trip up to Thompson Speedway on Saturday, September 18th which located in the NE corner of the state, there is another venue down in Fairfield County that, to me, would be equally as fun the following day. I am planning to go to both events with my Z and would love to have a bunch of club members join me there, again weather permitting.

The car show entry fee is a mere $10 which goes towards supporting the ongoing restoration efforts at the air museum facility and it's aircraft and gets you into the museum. One of the most iconic planes being restored is the infamous F4U Corsair which used to sit on a pedestal at the entrance to Sikorsky Airport. Weather and birds have taken a toll on the Corsair over the years and without this restoration it would have definitely perished forever.

Please Note: Children under 18 cannot enter the workshop and storage area due to Army regulations.

Stratford is the home town where these Corsairs were built. It also is the home of where Igor Sikorsky flew the first functional helicopter. The show runs from 10AM to 4PM, judging and awards to be completed by 2PM. There should be some interesting cars, planes and motorcycles to see. The Windsock restaurant is on site and the famous Cricket hot dog stand is just up the road. Click on the link below for further details on the show and museum.

If anyone wants to meet me at 9AM Sunday the 19th at the Heavenly Donut on RT 34 just west of the parkway in Derby CT, please let me know. We can caravan to the show together!

Zee you at *9am* at Heavenly Donuts.

Q: If kids under 8 are free, do you know why they can't enter the museum?

Good morning, all!

I'm up for this event. I've been to events here and always had a great time, especially (with my camera). It's easy to get to, being at the intersection of Main St and Sniffen's La in Stratford.

One of the past events featured the ill-fated B-17 Flying Fortress "Nine O Nine" on display.

The Stratford Point Lighthouse is a short drive south into Lordship.

Alan

Frank, I stand corrected on the restrictions imposed for kids under 18. They cannot enter the workshop or storage areas as these are still Army properties and apparently the Army won't allow anyone under 18 to enter those locations. They can enter the museum as well as the show of course. I corrected the earlier post.

The Port Jeff ferry can carry you across the Sound in less than an hour Howie, and puts you into B'port.........It would be cool to zee you in person again, instead of sniping at each other long-range. 8)

Frank. Just the thought of tightly packed cars, the possibility of an uncontrolled opening car door and the likelihood of getting salt water spray on my car absolutely terroriZes me.
(My favorite pass time is "Sniping") LOL

 ok, point taken.
Of course I suppose you could cover it in Saran Wrap to keep the salt spray off it, and put a large, vicious, bark-y dog inside to keep people away.... :P

For those of you planning to go to this event, I was planning to meet up with some Z friends at the Heavenly Donut on RT 34 (West) about 3/4 of a mile just west of RT 15 at 9AM. We can get coffee and than caravan together to Stratford for about a 20 minute ride if it works for you.

Otherwise, we will Z U at the show!
