Hi Ross,
October 11th!!!!
That's the payment due date for a heavy duty speeding ticket from upstate NY I was stuck with when having a bit of fun in the 350Z you talked me into buying once we worked out that my golf clubs would fit inside.
I had always figured with a good radar detector looking after the front and going 90+ mph plus so no-one would tag me from the back, I was clear.
A snake hiding in the long grass pulsed one on me, and he was in no mood to hear my story about being an old guy who was a little confused about the difference between the rev counter and the speedometer. :? I bet he used to be a guard at Attica.
Anyway, I'll start saving up gas money to drive down from Westport and look forward to seeing you again.

:D :D :D :D How many more years until I can start using that line? That's a good one. Sorry you got busted and looking forward to seeing you on the 11th!

I'll be hoping to meet the caravan at the Rte15 fuel stop in NHvn. Can't see driving too far North to get South. In past years some of us have met at the Hamden HoJo parking lot, which is an easy-off/easy-on for Rte15 southbound. But this will work OK, too.

Frank: Do you mean what used to be a HoJo's near the AAA office? We can certainly make a stop there. The time will be somewhere between North Haven and Orange rest areas.

Felipe: If you are coming down I91, switch over to the Wilbur Cross Pkwy at Meriden and join up at BJ's at Wallingford, Pkwy exit 66. I have listed approximate times in a previous post.

BJ's in Wallingford is an easy off/on the parkway.

So far we have a possibility of (4) Z's. How about the group that may be meeting up at the diner in Rocky Hill? Are you joining us?

Alan

Where's Bryan? He should meet us somewhere along there in his 240Z.......so should Mark in his 350 and Rick with Lucky#13. Surfer D isn't horribly far away from Rte15, either.

I'm sorry, you're right ~ it's no longer HoJo's, its Willoughby's next door to Clarion motel in Hamden. No need to change plans tho, your original plan will do OK. North Haven is actually not that much farther to travel. Parking was a little bit of a hassle last time we used Willoughby's lot, and we only gathered 3 or 4 cars there. Their restaurant seems to be a popular place on Saturday mornings. I think we're better off with your plan.

Surf, there's a rest stop just after exit 56 on Rte15 southbound ~ do you know if it's still under construction, or has it reopened by now? If it's available, I would suggest waiting for us in there.

It's open now. That's a good spot.

Alan, I suggest adding the exit 56 rest stop to our list.

RE: caravan to Darien via Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways:

The rest stops at North Haven, Orange, and Fairfield are all open and in full operation.

Our timetable will be:.
...arrive Wallingford BJ's parking lot, Rt15 exit 66 between 9:00 - 9:30am- leave by 9:45am
...arrive Merritt Pkwy North Haven rest area 10:00am
...Orange rest area 10:10am
...Fairfield rest area 10:30am
...arrive Darien near 11:00am

I will re-check posts Friday night to be sure we leave no Z's behind. My cell is 203-687-8053.

Frank: Can I assume your reference to Exit56 is the Orange rest stop?

Alan

Yessir, Alan, #56 is the Orange exit. The rest stop is just beyond the ON ramp. (We will pass the 56 OFF ramp, then the 56 ON ramp, then the rest stop/gas station).

I will still drive up and meet you at the NHvn stop, tho. We'll pick up SurferD at the Orange stop.

Mike, it will be great to zee you again. Been too long.
