The earth's trajectory carries us thru the tail of Swift-Tuttle meteor tonight (12Aug), giving us a show of shooting stars all night as the meteor particles impact with our atmosphere and burn up as they are pulled to earth. Called the Perseid Meteor Shower, this is a predictable annual event which has been happening since dirt was clean and dinosaurs were small.

We can see up to one shooting star per minute if we can avoid the clouds, bright moon and city lights.

All you need to enjoy this event to its fullest are an open field, a blanket, a bottle of wine and a girlfriend. 8)
